Changes!!! Keep Lookin’ For Those CHANGES! Part 1

November 30th, 2011

Change:. We’ve been promised that the one thing constant in our life is CHANGE! And even though that seems like an incongruent statement, we all get it!!! We all know that nothing stays the same forever and ever!!! Even rocks get eroded! So yes! Our bodies change, our relationships change, our priorities change, our environments change, our work changes,.. need I say more????

And you know what? Change is good!!! Without change we’d get sooo bored and we would atrophy. Our brains would lose those dendrite connections (scientifically proven the dendrites atrophy when not used; that’s why those language classes you took way back when don’t help you when you go on a trip to a foreign country now). By keeping our brains active we avoid some of the potential complications of the aging process.

So,.. what about change???? Well if there’s going to be change, why not make it work for you??? Maybe you already do! Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and other athletes make change work for them. They MAKE it happen. How? They use visualization and hypnosis to train their mind and body to work together so they get the results they desire. Why not you?

Hypnosis, so often associated with entertaining stage shows and movies, is actually a very effective way to facilitate you achieving goals that YOU desire! I emphasize, goals that YOU desire because we are being hypnotized all the time to do and buy things that we don’t really need or even desire. Have you ever driven through a drive-through, gotten something that they advertised on TV and thought, “Why did I get this? I am not enjoying this.” Or maybe you purchased a product that you didn’t really need, when you read “have it your way”. Do you think of Burger King??? Have you ever been driving and suddenly realize you don’t remember how you got to your destination? What streets you took? Or maybe during a drive on the highway you nearly missed an exit? Have you ever been watching a movie or football game only to realize that someone is calling your name or talking to you and you had no idea there was anyone else in the room with you? Then you have been hypnotized!!!!

Yes, hypnosis is that easy! And it is happening all the time!

A person could get discouraged knowing that we spend so much time in this altered state of consciousness that we call hypnosis. But don’t! Just start using it to your advantage! That’s right! Use that time to focus on what YOU want. Use that time to visualize what YOU want and watch how much more quickly you begin to create that in your life!

Thoughts are energy; when you think about stressful thoughts such as: I’m going to be late. I’m going to be in trouble. I wish I would’ve done better, your body responds, muscles tighten then maybe the stomach gets upset and then a headache comes, Ugh! So what happens when you focus your thoughts, your ENERGY, on what you want??? On what you desire in your life??? What do you suppose you begin to feel in your body when you think about relaxing on the beach on a summer day? Or in the arms of a loved one? Or being successful at whatever goal you have? That’s right! Your breathing deepens, your body gets more oxygen and you begin to relax and feel more confident and peaceful. How wonderful!

So you can start today to MAKE change happen in your life! It takes some practice to move away from limiting and negative thoughts and judgments but just start becoming your own best cheerleader! Your own best hypnotist! When you become aware of things you are thinking or saying that you really don’t want in your life. Do the following exercise and start making that positive CHANGE in YOUR life!

Most of us are familiar with weight loss so I’m going to use that as an example for this exercise; read through it and then apply it to whatever positive change you are making in your life. The thought a person might become aware of when changing their body could be: “I’m never going to lose this weight.”

Now certainly this is not what they want to create in their life -never losing the weight- but by thinking it regularly and maybe even saying it aloud to friends and family, this person will hypnotize themselves and prove to themselves that it is true; they will never lose the weight. So what would be a better thing to shift towards in order to create what they want to do about their weight???

Yes, you are right, a positive affirmation. However, when working with affirmations, it’s best if it’s also believable to the person saying it. So while some people could take the statement “I’m never going to lose this weight.” and turn it into “I lost that weight.” or “I’m losing this weight.” and get benefit from it and begin to create that in their life; another person might like to use a transitional type of affirmation. For example; “I’m beginning to lose that weight.” or “I’m getting better and better and losing the weight I no longer need or want.” And then that person may choose to graduate to a more completed affirmation like “I’m losing that weight.”. It’s important the affirmation be what YOU want and that you believe it, even just a little bit. It’s like a seed and will grow. Every time you think it or say it to yourself or others it’s like watering your new seed and it will grow!
