JIT inventory management is only one component of an overall JIT philosophy. The inventory related objectives of the JIT philosophy are two-fold: first, to purchase only those products that are necessary to complete sales at the necessary time; and second, to eliminate unnecessary inventories. Under a JIT approach, product is “pulled” into inventory as a result of sales, rather than “pushed” into inventory to create future demand. Read more…
