Bubbling with anticipation for this year’s X-Adventure World Tour USA race, my adventure racing teammates and I arrived at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City at 7:30 in the morning on a sunny morning in mid-August. Mark, Luke and I jockeyed for position at the starting line with 45 other yellow-jerseyed teams. Coinciding with the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, the race had pulled a number of the 18,000 attendees to the world’s largest outdoor specialty trade show to cheer us on at the starting line.
